If Toriyama wanted Gohan to know how to go SSJ3, it would have at least been included in the manga. Since it wasn't we can't really assume he did. |

The Elder Kaioshin draws out all of Gohan's dormant power out to the surface that formerly required him to transform in order to access. SSJ3 was included in there, obviously. |
